I came across this fabulous website, Tikatok, to help promote your student’s writing. What a great way to add both authenticity and a real audience for their writing. Please read below from ilearntechnology blog post.
"....With Tikatok each of your students can become a published author, create, share, and gain an authentic audience for their writing and illustrations.
Students have options when creating a story, they can choose a topic and idea to start a story or they can start from scratch with a blank story. The first option allows students to get help with the hardest part of story creation, thinking of an idea and beginning a story. Students fill in blanks about their story and get a basic story that they can embellish and add to. In the second option, students create a story from scratch.
Teachers can register classes and keep track of the stories their students are creating. Teachers can also send students messages and comment on stories. There is also an option for students to work collaboratively on a story. Students can adjust their stories template, colors, text, and images. When students are finished, their story can be viewed online, printed out from a PDF file, or published and purchased for $15-20." http://ilearntechnology.com/?p=815

I checked out this website inside and out. I do not see an area for teachers as you mention. Nothing about registering classes or working collaboratively on a story. One special note though, be careful if you create a story using BuildaBear on their site. If you do the author gives up all rights to any stories that they create. As a 2nd Grade Teacher I have used Studentreasures ( www.studentreasures.com )- my students have worked together to make a book - not online but the price of capturing their actual drawings and handwriting is priceless. Plus Studentreasures has FREE books associated with their programs. Tikatok - gives you limited pages and charges around $0.40 for every 2 pages thereafter. Studentreasures does not charge the teacher any out of pocket cost to create class books or individual books when using their school programs. CLopez
Hmmm.....When I initially signed up, I was able to add students through the Profile>Settings section.
Correct using BuildaBear...
"Tikatok users own the copyright of all original stories and images they submit to Tikatok with the exception of books created using Build-A-Bear StorySparks. Build-A-Bear owns the copyright of all books created using Build-A-Bear StorySparks."
Thank you for your suggestion about studenttreasure.com
Hi -
My name is Katie and I am with Tikatok. At the time of this posting, our classroom program was not live - but we have launched it since then. You can find it at www.tikatok.com/classroom. Hope this helps!
